Dharmapala crush S. de S. Jayasinghe by 9 wickets

Dharmapala College Pannipitiya registered their second win in the ongoing under 17 division one cricket tournament by crushing S de S Jayasinghe College Dehiwala by 9 wickets . The under 17 division one group A encounter was hosted by S de S Jayasinghe College at their school grounds.

Electing to bowl first Dharmapala College was able to restrict the home team to 109 runs in 34 overs. Skippers Kavindu Nishan and Vihanga Gunarathna captured four wickets each while Yasiru Kavindu was rewarded with the other two. Ravindu Udayanga and Chamindu Silva scored 35 runs each and were the only two batsmen to impress.

Powered by a 64 run opening stand between Navin Madusanka and Hasitha Udayanga Dharmapala was able to win the game by nine wickets in just half the number of overs required. Navin scored 33 off 40 balls with five hits to the ropes and one over the ropes while Hasitha Udayanga was unbeaten on 41 off 48 balls with three boundaries and three sixes.

Hasitha and Sanchana Lakshan not out on 18 off 16 balls with four boundaries were associated in an unbroken second wicket partnership of 49. Kanchana Lanka captured the solitary wicket to fall.
