Induction Ceremony of the 81st President and Annual Dinner of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon
Professor Sudantha Liyanage, the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura was inducted as the 81st President of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon at a ceremony held on 14th June, 2018 at the Golden Rose, Boralasgamuwa. The Chief Guest for the event was Professor Sampath Amaratunge, the Vice Chancellor of U n ive r s i t y of Sri Jayewardenepura. Mr. Kulathunga Rajapakse, Managing Director of DSI Samson Groups Pvt. Ltd. and Professor Chandana Jayaratne, President of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science graced the occasion as special guests. The ceremony was held with the participation of more than 250 distinguished i nv i t e e s including Members and Pa s t Presidents of the Institute Chemistry Ceylon, Council members and academics of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, academics of the College of Chemical Sciences of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon and well wishers. The induction ceremony was followed by the annual dinner of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon. It was a wonderful evening for the guests who mingled with colleagues over dinner and music.
A new chapter has unfolded in the history of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon under the excellent guidance and leadership of Professor Sudantha Liyanage. We wish him all the very best to take the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon to greater heights during the year ahead.
