Putting on those boogie shoes with Boney M

Nostalgic was the atmosphere at SLECC as Boney M performed their 70’s hits Live in Colombo featuring the group’s very own original lead singer Liz Mitchell and accompanie­d by a full live band on June 16, 2018. As good as the music was, the full house was there for just a little more than that. The performanc­e was a journey back in time for those who grew up or grew old listening to Boney M.

Starting sharp at 7.30 PM, The iconic songs ‘Sunny’, ‘Painter Man’ and ‘Daddy Cool’ were followed by more of their hits for which the crowdtook to their feet dancing the night away. The audience joined to sing along as Mitchell and the band per- formed their favourite hits of Boney M from the old days. ‘Holiday’, ‘Brown Girl’, ‘Bahama Mama’, ‘Rasputin’ and ‘Rivers of Babylon’ held a special place among them. With the kind of music that everyone could enjoy, Boney M was a treat for every member in the audience from children and young people to their parents and grandparen­ts who were all energetic and excited.
