Ng/ Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya in Negombo celebrated her annual Festival of Mother Mary in a grand scale under the patronage of Rev. Fr. Terry Ranjith, the Parish Priest of Pitipana Shrine on 31st of May 2018. The Flag Tree was planted a week ago by the A/ Level students along with the Novena each morning. It was organized by Mrs. W. P. N. C. Rushanthi Perera and Miss. Nir mani Priyadarshani, the Teachers- in- Charge of Religious Activities of the school with the collaboration of both Catholic and Buddhist teachers.

Creating a new page of the History Book of the school, the newly appointed Principal, Mrs. Inoka Damayanthi Rajapakshe decided that the children to be blessed with a Holy Mass followed by the procession. The Holy Mass was conducted by Rev. Fr. Terry Ranjith and Rev. Fr. Chanaka Prabhath Walikadaarachchi. Mrs. Malika Priyanthi conducted the Choir bringing grace to the Mass while Mrs. Nilmini Fernando arranged and decorated the palanquin to take the statue of Mother Mary.

The procession was organized by the Religious Unit to take the statue of Mother Mary around the village with three bands of the school in order to shower blessings to the village. The palanquin was carried by the teachers and prefects in turn.

The villagers also gave their fullest cooperation to make the procession a success, being prepared mini- stages at some places in the village for special prayers. The children were treated with cool drinks by them.

After the procession, all the students along with the teachers and the school were blessed by Rev. Fr. Terry Ranjith and Rev. Fr. Chanaka Prabhath. Although all the students participated in the Holy Mass and the procession, the academic work was not much disturbed.

Rev. Fr. Terry Ranjith commended the procession as it was a Religious Walk of the school that brought blessings not only to the school but to the village. Further, he added it
