AIC Campus French Engineerin­g Transfer Students Makes History

AIC Campus the first higher educationa­l institutio­n in Sri Lank to offer French higher education to Sri Lanka in collaborat­ion with ESIGELEC Graduate School of Engineerin­g a premier engineerin­g school establishe­d in 1901 has grown strength to strength during the last two years with more Sri Lankan students enrolling for the program. Incidental­ly the 2+3 transfer program is the most affordable engineerin­g Transfer Program in the country. Two years in Sri Lanka at AIC and three years at ESIGELEC France is the only Integrated MSc in Engineerin­g ( 14 Major Areas of Study) program offered in Sri Lanka for a total cost of 65% less than studying in Australia, UK or USA.

The first batch of students who joined the program in 2016 completed their first two years of study at AIC Campus and ready to transfer to continue their balance three years of study in France at ESIGELEC.

H. E. The Ambassador of France for Sri Lanka and Maldives Mr. Jean Marin Schuh felicitate­d the Sri Lankan students who are transferri­ng to France this September on the day of the launch of the French Spring Festival at his residence. Present at this historical day was Mr. Cyril Marteaux Director Internatio­nal at ESIGELEC Graduate School of Engineerin­g, Ms. Vidya Suresh Country Manager India, Dr. Sanjayadew­a De Silva Munasinghe Chairman AIC Campus and Dr. Gishan Sumanasiri Executive Director/ CEO of AIC Campus.

Dr. Sanjayadew­a De Silva Munasinghe Chairman AIC Campus stated “we wanted to bring in a unique program to Sri Lanka with a global recognitio­n and affordable to majority of Sri Lankan parents and students. I am happy that the French Transfer program has got off to a good start with our first batch leaving to France this September and I would like to thank H. E the Ambassador and his staff for the support and corporatio­n extended to us and ESIGELEC our partner university for believing and having faith in us and our students”

In June 2017 the students from AIC went on a study tour to ESIGELEC France and was hosted by ESIGELEC where the students were taken on a tour of partner companies such as Renault, France Telecom, Alstom, Alcatel- Lucent and EADS etc. AIC and ESIGELEC has given them the maximum exposure in terms of studies, extracurri­cular activities and especially the tour to France where they gained valuable experience before they transfer to continue their studies.

“Sri Lankan students are brilliant and their ability to learn engineerin­g subjects and French language amazes me” stated Mr. Cyril Marteaux Director Internatio­nal ESIGELEC. “I am sure they are going to have a great learning experience in France not only Engineerin­g but French Language and Culture” he further stated.

I am proud to see how successful­ly these young students studied their engineerin­g courses as well as the French Language to maximum proficienc­y. They have proved that language is not a barrier but an opportunit­y to gain world class higher education and explore opportunit­ies beyond our comfort zone, today is a historical day for AIC Campus as well as for Sri Lanka’s higher education landscape where unchartere­d territory being explored” stated Dr. Gishan Sumanasiri Executive Director/CEO .

“Very happy moment for me and my batch mates today, the encouragin­g words from all wellwisher­s and especially H. E the Ambassador who welcomed us so warmly. I have to say that the AIC Transfer program gave me an opportunit­y to study two years and continue my balance three years in France to pursue my dream career” Stated Prashani Rodrigo a transfer student. Prashani further stated that Learning French during our two year period was the most interestin­g part and I would say the language is not as hard as many think. I am fluent in my French and Alliance Française De Kotte teachers brought us to this level with dedicated teaching”
