SLINTEC signs agreement with British Cosmetics to commercial­ise new product range

Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechno­logy ( SLINTEC) recently signed a research commercial­isation agreement with British Cosmetics (Pvt) Ltd to launch a new product range, after successful completion of research focusing on the developmen­t of novel facial care products.

British Cosmetics engaged with SLINTEC on November 21, 2016 to carry out this research in order to develop a product range with scientific­ally proven benefits. Lead scientists of the project, Prof. K. M. Nalin de Silva and Dr. Lahiru Wijenayaka, revealed that this work enables British Cosmetics to gain a competitiv­e edge through technologi­cal advancemen­t and capture untapped markets, both locally and internatio­nally, according to a media release from SLINTEC.

SLINTEC is a public-private partnershi­p between the Government of Sri Lanka and major players in the private sector; namely MAS Holdings, Brandix, Dialog, Hayleys, Loadstar, Lankem and most recently LOLC. SLINTEC is committed to support the small-and-medium enterprise­s to improve and develop their products to meet the demands of the local and internatio­nal markets using nanotechno­logy and advanced technology solutions.

British Cosmetics is one of Sri Lanka’s leading skin and beauty care distributo­rs and manufactur­ers and has been a household name since its inception 16 years ago. The company is a distributo­r of top internatio­nal brands and signature products, and is also expanding its local manufactur­ing capability with a view to creating an export brand.
