The Dog Lady’s House provides a host of services, mainly for dogs, and is out to change perception­s about pet care.

It’s a pet owner’s nightmare: you need to go out of town for sometime and your pet needs looking after. You can entrust someone close to take care of your pet, but what if your pet doesn’t get on with everyone? This is when a good pet hostelcome­s to the rescue. “The Dog Lady’s House started nearly a decade ago in 2009. At inception it was only a Dog Hotel, called Haven - a Hotel for Dogs,” says Ashwini Aiyar. “I noticed a dearth of proper boarding facilities for dogsin Sri Lanka, and I called each of the places that offered temporary lodgings for dogs and was greatly disappoint­ed with what I found. These places took no account of the emotional welfare of the animal, and the dogs they housed were terribly unhappy,” adds Ashwini, who has a BA (Hons) in Canine Psychology (UK) and is the CEO & Founder of Aiyar & Co. (Pvt) Ltd.
