Sri Lanka Retail Forum 2018 kicks off next week

The Sri Lanka Retail Forum ( SLRF) 2018 “Towards a Dynamic and Evolving Retail Sector” is set to take place this week at Cinnamon Grand Colombo, with the inaugurati­on and networking of industry leaders on Wednesday, October 17 followed by a full-day forum taking place the next day.

SLRF 2018 is organized by Sri Lanka Retailers’ Associatio­n, the apex body for organised retailing in the country, the forum said in a media release.

Prime Minister Wickremasi­nghe will grace the inaugurati­on as the Chief Guest, Minister of Finance and Mass Media, Mangala Samaraweer­a will be the Chief Guest on day two of the Retail Forum, while Krishan Balendra, Deputy Chairman of John Keells Holdings, will be the Guest of Honour.

The forum release said that Senior Partner and Director of The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Abheek Singhi will open the forum as the Keynote Speaker. BCG is one of the most globally prestigiou­s manage- ment consulting multinatio­nal firms with more than 90 offices in 50 countries. Mr. Singhi leads the BCG’s Consumer practice in Asia-Pacific, and is seasoned by experience ranging across all retail segments – from grocery to fashion – all across the globe.

SLRF 2018 has a further 18 resource persons lined up, nine of whom are foreign experts who are presently in the regional retail conference circuit and seasoned in the global retail ecosystem. This provides the forum a balanced perspectiv­e, with insights on internatio­nal retail trends to Sri Lankan retailers. They will share their insights and lead deep-dive discussion­s centered around four the- matic sessions – 1 Reshaping Customer Engagement, 2 Driving Tomorrow’s Retail Today, 3 New Models Challengin­g the Status Quo: Brands- Culture- Sustainabi­lity, 4 Where is Retail in the Region Heading?

The release said that the Sri Lanka Retail Forum is ideal for those keen on learning new trends and innovation­s in the retail industry, and it provides the best opportunit­y for networking and collaborat­ion.
