Ii TV Royal – The Maiden Voyage

-

As the dates of the Maiden Voyage of TV Royal draw closer an answer to the burning question of “what is TV Royal?” is long overdue. To begin answering the Question we look at the when is & where ofs’ of the broadcast. The initial three- day broadcast is to be held on the 26th, 27th & 28th of October, and to the question of where on – it will be broadcasted on Peo TV Channel 20 & on YouTube everyone’s favorite video streaming service!

The programme schedule for the broadcast is available on their website www. tvroyal. xyz and updates are given daily on the TV Royal Facebook and Instagram pages. A quick follow on these pages should certainly give our reader a simple answer to the question of what TV Royal entails and thereby is.

Moving to the more complicated answer we look towards the two Co – Chairmen for answers. Speaking to Abdul Rizvie one of the organizers of the project he runs me through on the 36 hours of original content to be broadcasted they have worked on for the past 4 months, and how indeed it came to be?

He begins by clearly expressing the vision and expectation the broadcast was set out on, “we didn’t just want our TV to be a half effort of a music video and a live stream of our day or match sprinkled with a few interviews here and there” he says with conviction. ‘Instead’ one of the other organizes Kaif Sally adds “we were very careful about creating a platform that not only attracts Royalist but young people – like us from around the country”. Their ambition was furthered with the conviction they held to “keep our programming as diverse and challenging as possible while most closely resembling an international TV program”.

This final product it turns out has fallen very close to the initial production goals they set. The programs in the broadcast have been divided into band ranging f rom History, Mor ning Shows, Edutainment, Youth, Sports, Teen, Adventure, Specials, Features & Music. As the crew recited their programmes like a prayer – there were many that I personally found interesting, that is not to say there wasn’t a piece of cake for everyone. Exploring the Archives – the first time the general public will be exposed to the contents of the Royal College Archives, A day in the life – a program following the lives of business tycoons and celebrities, Melody – the story of SAGA, Good Morning Royal – a programme among others featuring the Hon. Prime minister, Adieu Colombo – an expeditions into the jungles of the hill country, Formula Racing with the Premadasas, features on gourmet youth cooking, millennial shows and geek features with Chokolate, INGENIUM – Sri Lankas first independent TV quiz and the extensive list goes on and on.

While speaking to Aparna De Silva the Teacher In charge of Media at Royal College she relates on the development she has seen in the crew, “the standard and skills of the boys alone have increased because of TV Royal “she says. She continues to elaborate on the support given by the companies backing the inaugural broadcast. In truth her appreciation is well placed for with a cast of organizations like Peo TV, British Council, IELTS, IdeaHell, Chokolaate, Wijaya Newspapers and the Maharaja Organization backing them - it’s easy to expect the very best!

From what I have gathered “TV Royal” is an initiative that doesnt need the most colorful or sizable descriptions. Instead, it needs you the viewer - to support, appreciate and be entertained by the months of effort put in by quintessentially the future of our seemingly dying television industry.
