Breitling and Ocean Conservancy leads beach clean up in Singapore
Breitling is one of the world’s most respected watch brands and has built a large part of its reputation on its links to aviation. It has also created some incredible watches for divers, including the Superocean, which was launched more than 60 years ago and remains a vital part of the Breitling collection.
On the 31st October 2018, Breitling Southeast Asia in cooperation with non- profit organisation Ocean Conservancy carried out on a beach clean- up in East Coast Park Singapore, a project aimed to raise awareness on the importance of a clean ocean.
More than 100 participants including the Breitling Surfers Squad members, employees, local and regional media representatives and partners as well as children from the German Europe School Singapore, contributed their support along the shoreline of East Coast Beach.
During the opening, Sarah Humphries, Vice President of Resource Development of the Ocean Conservancy said that it was an honour to join Breitling and its Surfers Squad for an International Coastal Cleanup event in Singapore. “Breitling, Stephanie Gilmore and Sally Fitzgibbons appreciate the wonder and magic of the ocean and how important it is that everyone - from school kids to corporate CEOs - pitches in to keep it and our beaches clean and healthy.”
A total of 35kg of trash was collected, among which were large quantities of micro plas- tics and cigarettes. This is the first project in Asia that Breitling and Ocean Conservancy have jointly made after the announcement of the partnership earlier this year.
The mission was joined by Breitling’s Surfers Squad members, Stephanie Gilmore and Sally Fitzgibbons, two brilliantly talented Australian surfers who share the brand’s deep and long-held commitment to maintain clean oceans and beaches and they encouraged others to do so too.
