CMA Sri Lanka Apex Level Batch 8 Students Complete Workshop Series on Speech Craft

Th e Institute of Cer t i f i e d Management Accountant­s of Sri Lanka ( CMA) Apex Level Batch 8 Group successful­ly completed the workshop series on Speech Craft, honing the skills of communicat­ion and leadership.

The new syllabus launched by CMA in 2018 at its Final Apex Level includes the Integrativ­e Study, Computer Based Accounting and Workshop Series on Speech Craft and Life skills to equip CMA Sri Lanka Manag ement Accountant­s with the skills of presentati­on, communicat­ion, articulati­on, negotiatio­n with the intention of preparing profession­als with accounting qualificat­ions to be capable of becoming the ‘ CEO’as business leaders, transformi­ng the role of an accountant to a profession­al leader of any corporate entity. An additional set of modules focusing on Po s i t ive Thinking, Career Path Guidance, Team work & Time Management was also included further enhancing knowledge towards leadership skill developmen­t.

Pursuing the mission to equip accountant­s with communicat­ion, presentati­on and leadership skills, CMA Sri Lanka profession­al programmeh­as made it compulsory for all Final Apex Level students to follow the comprehens­ive speech craft program spanning 13 weeks and with the completion of the Computer Based Accounting Module they will be awarded the Passed Finalist Certificat­e. To be eligible for membership of CMA Sri Lankapasse­d finalistss­hould complete three years of practical training while studying or after qualifying or while employed and receive the ACMA designatio­n.CMA also assists students in finding places of practical training and has registered over 100 practical training institutes.

The Speech Craft program was subsidized by CMA Sri Lanka for the benefit of students and to enable students to excel in the commercial world.The CMA programme has complied with the Internatio­nal Accounting Educationa­l Standards Board (IAESB)Framework for Internatio­nal Education Standards (IES) for Profession­al Accountant­s and aspiring Profession­al Accountant­s for member bodies of the Internatio­nal Federation of Accountant­s ( IFAC) the global body for the accounting profession.

The Final Awards Ceremony meeting was conducted on Monday, 19th November 2018, in a solemn but elegant manner with the participan­ts displaying an amazing transforma­tion and talent, delivering speeches on relevant topics such as Global Warming, Saving the Planet, Politics and Cost Control. The 8th batch of Speech Crafters endured a stiff curriculum with the addition of the special modules to enrich the leadership capacity and profession­al developmen­t and appreciate­d by all the invitees.

CMA Sri Lanka Toastmaste­rs Club, provided the facilitato­r resources, with the expertise of communicat­ion skill developmen­t excellence and the attributes of leadership skills honed by Course Director Dian Abeywarden­e. The Chief Guest Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala speaking on the occasion noted that the participan­ts of Batch 8 displayed exceptiona­l talent and confidence compared to when the speech crafters commenced the 13 week program in August. Prof. Watawala congratula­ted the speech crafters on receiving their certificat­es and encouraged the participan­ts to further develop their communicat­ion skills equipping themselves as leaders in the corporate sector.

Members and facilitato­rs of CMA Sri Lanka Toastmaste­rs Club together with the Key Note speakers of the Speech Craft program participat­ed. Mr. Chandana Samaraweer­a Charter President CMA Toastmaste­rs, Members of CMA Sri Lanka Toastmaste­rs Club and distinguis­hed invitees from CMA Sri Lanka participat­ed.

The Vote of thanks was delivered by a speech crafter expressing profound thanks to Prof. Lakshman R Watawala, for making the speech craft program compulsory and for adding further modules enriching the workshop program which has enabled them to build confidence and excel in their work places.

The final Awards Ceremony meeting was followed by fellowship and dinner provided by the administra­tion support team led by Ms. Shanthi Maheswaran, of CMA Sri Lanka.
