"Wicket Break 2018 "is back
Bewitching cricket enthusiasts, the 2006 batch of St Jo s e p h ’ s College, organized an Eight-a-side cricket tournament “Wicket Break 2018”. The event was on the 20th of November this year and was organized for the 4th consecutive time. The event became out of ordinary with the participation of a national player and the former captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team Mr. Angelo Mathews, as the chief guest, who was also a fellow batch mate.
The event was a successful attempt to strengthen the fellowship among the batch mates and a vision to create a social forum for its members. Thanks to the dedication and efforts of the committee members under the leadership of Mr. Lahiru Munasinghe, as the batch president, the participation was more than expected and the day became memorable for the members, their spouses and kids.
At the tour nament, Melizan House emerged victorious winning this year’s championship. Coudert House team became runners- up with Bonjean House winning the third p l a c e. N i s a l Kotinkaduwa memorial trophy for the best batsman was awarded to Gihan Rodrigo of Coudert House for his 84 runs in the tournament whilst Chamith Marlon memorial trophy for the best bowler was awarded to Pramodh J. Wi ckre m a s i n g h e of Coudert House for his 4 wickets. Richard Anthony of Melizan House was adjudged as the best fielder and Umair Wolid of Bonjean House emerged as the best All Rounder of the tournament.
In line with Wicket Break, the committee has organized another event of Member registration hand in hand with Sri Lanka’s first digital bank FriMi, to register 360 A/ L batch members who studied at St Joseph’s College in 2006. The first membership card was handed over to Mr. Angelo Mathews and the other members became official members and received exclusive offers from FriMi.
