CFA Society Sri Lanka welcomes New Charterholders to Financial Industry
Local Investment Professionals demonstrate commitment to shaping a more trustworthy financial industry
CFA Society Sri Lanka( CFASL) the local member society of CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals that sets the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence, announced that 35 local Investment Professionals have earned the prestigious CFA ( Chartered Financial Analyst) designation and a further 17 CFA Level III Passed Finalists were recognised at the 2018 Charter Awards Ceremony and Annual Oration held at HNB Towers.
CFASL President Zaffar Jeevunjee, CFA while congratulating the new batch of Charterholders and Level III Passed Finalists welcomed them into the CFASL community which is 228 members strong. He emphasised that while the number of members are small, it is a fast growing community and their impact on the capital markets is significant. He advised the new graduates to engage in continuous professional development to hone their skills, to act in a way that builds trust and integrity in the capital markets and finance profession as well as give back to the community by volunteering their time and effort for CFASL activities.
The Chief Guest and Orator for the event Nick Pollard, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, CFA Institute emphasised on the fact that the CFA charter is not merely a designation, but a gold standard to which charterholders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of ethics and professional development. He went on to speak that 10 years after the global financial crisis, trust in the investment profession remains low and outlined the key areas which are the focus of CFA Institute. These areas include changing the business models to better align the interests of investment professionals with those of its clients, taking the lead in earning back trust of investors, educating employers on the value of the charter and embracing new technologies by viewing it as an opportunity for enhancing the service provided by investment professionals.
