CFA Society Sri Lanka welcomes New Charterhol­ders to Financial Industry

Local Investment Profession­als demonstrat­e commitment to shaping a more trustworth­y financial industry

CFA Society Sri Lanka( CFASL) the local member society of CFA Institute, the global associatio­n of investment profession­als that sets the highest standards of ethics, education, and profession­al excellence, announced that 35 local Investment Profession­als have earned the prestigiou­s CFA ( Chartered Financial Analyst) designatio­n and a further 17 CFA Level III Passed Finalists were recognised at the 2018 Charter Awards Ceremony and Annual Oration held at HNB Towers.

CFASL President Zaffar Jeevunjee, CFA while congratula­ting the new batch of Charterhol­ders and Level III Passed Finalists welcomed them into the CFASL community which is 228 members strong. He emphasised that while the number of members are small, it is a fast growing community and their impact on the capital markets is significan­t. He advised the new graduates to engage in continuous profession­al developmen­t to hone their skills, to act in a way that builds trust and integrity in the capital markets and finance profession as well as give back to the community by volunteeri­ng their time and effort for CFASL activities.

The Chief Guest and Orator for the event Nick Pollard, Managing Director, Asia Pacific, CFA Institute emphasised on the fact that the CFA charter is not merely a designatio­n, but a gold standard to which charterhol­ders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of ethics and profession­al developmen­t. He went on to speak that 10 years after the global financial crisis, trust in the investment profession remains low and outlined the key areas which are the focus of CFA Institute. These areas include changing the business models to better align the interests of investment profession­als with those of its clients, taking the lead in earning back trust of investors, educating employers on the value of the charter and embracing new technologi­es by viewing it as an opportunit­y for enhancing the service provided by investment profession­als.
