In­dia Emerg­ing Team reg­is­tered a com­fort­able six wicket win over Oman Emerg­ing Team in a Group A match of the Asian Cricket Coun­cil Emerg­ing Teams Cup played at the R Pre­madasa Sta­dium yes­ter­day.

De­spite a bril­liant cen­tury from top-or­der bat Aqib Ilyas, the in­ex­pe­ri­enced Oman crick­eters could muster just 203 runs bat­ting first. Ilyas hit 117 off 122 balls with 14 bound­aries and sin­gle- hand­edly guided Oman Xl to the to­tal. Leg- spin­ner Mayank Markande was chief tor­men­tor claim­ing four for 41 in his ten overs and he was sup­ported by J Ja­dav (3 for 33) and A Sheth (2 for 31).

This to­tal was chased down with ease by the In­di­ans thanks to some im­pres­sive top-or­der bat­ting.

In­dia reached 206 for the loss of four wick­ets with 53 balls to spare af­ter Ak Baisn (83) and Him­mat Singh (63) shared an im­pos­ing 128 runs for the third wicket to lay the foun­da­tion for their vic­tory af­ter Jay Odera struck in suc­ces­sive balls to re­duce In­dia for 33 for 2 in the sev­enth over. Odera fin­ished with three for 38.
