“The Promise” Carol Service by St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa Primary School

-

It

was a glorious evening on Wednesday 28th of November 2018 when a host of angels appeared at the Primary of St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa and sang praises to God.

The little Sebastianites performed a spectacular event at the Christmas Carols Service held at the Primary School premises. This was the first time that this service was opened to the public. It was based on the theme, “The Promise” made by God Almighty to Adam and Eve, at the Garden of Eden to send a messiah, to save the mankind from sin.

The show began with an act at the Garden of Eden, with the delivery of the promise by God, to the appearance of Angel Gabriel to Mother Mary with the message by God, to the birth of baby Jesus and to the current celebration of Christmas by people.

A meaningful Christmas message was delivered by the Rector, Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi, where he mentioned that true meaning of Christmas happens when it is shared by those needed. It begins in our hearts and must be shared in order to welcome Jesus into our lives. He praised the worthy cause made by the Primary students under the patronage of the Primary Principal, Rev. Fr. Priyan Tissera, when money was collected throughout the year in tills by the primary students to be given away to the less fortunate.

In Christian homes the celebration of Christmas begins with carol services. Unlike the previous years, this too was done with a difference, making way to the many requests by the parents, to hold a grand event opening to the public. The success of the event is shared by the Management of the school, teachers, students and the parents alike. It was a team and a family effort.

Yet another milestone in the “Sebastianite Family”.

A child was born, a human, in a manger, yet “The Son of God” as “Promised” by God Almighty. Let’s welcome him to our lives and our families!
