Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the leading ICT solutions provider and the leading broadband and backbone infrastructure services provider, has announced achieving two certifications from the world renowned certification body, Bureau Veritas.

The company achieved the ISO / IEC 27001:2013 certification for its Information Security Management System and the ISO 22301:2012 certification for its business continuity management system. SLT is the first national telco in the country to attain this business continuity certification ISO 22301: 2012, the company said in a media release.

An Information Security Management System (ISMS) is a systematic approach to managing sensitive company information by including people, processes and IT systems so that this information remains secure. The ISO / IEC 27001:2013 specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system to ensure that ample information security controls and other forms of risk management are in place to preserve confidentiality, integrity and availability of information assets of the company and its clients.

SLT first achieved BS 7799 certification for its Information Security Management System back in the year 2006. It was then the first company incorporated in Sri Lanka to achieve this security standard as well as to be listed in the prestigious ISMS Registry since 2006. Thereafter, SLT has continuously maintained its certification up to now. As the national ICT solutions provider to the nation, SLT’s fully fledged ICT infrastructure and network that spans all corners of the country played an influential role in the company achieving this certification. The scope of the certification spans the company’s data centres, network operation centres, power & AC operations, service fulfilment, IPTV operations, ISP operations, the entire IT operations as well as logistics.

“SLT is responsible for handling business critical information pertaining to a substantial client base comprising of large multinational corporations, large and small corporate, public sector as well as retail organisations. As such, SLT continues to be extremely vigilant and fervent with regards to its responsibility to its clients in terms of ensuring the security of their business critical information.
