“It’s thanks to strong student support services at ANC I got into my dream college – York University of Canada”

-

With 17 years of transforming lives, ANC has long recognised the importance of providing a range of well-defined educational pathways. ANC US / Canada University Transfer Programmes enable ANC students to transfer to a wellaccredited US/ Canadian universities of international repute to complete a four-year degree after completing up to 2 years at ANC. It has been a stepping stone to a worldclass degree for over 2000 students.

Dasuni Attapattu completed her first two years of the degree at ANC and is now off to York University of Canada to complete her undergraduate education. Dasuni and her parents are very grateful to ANC for helping their expectations come to fruition. Dasuni attributes her success to strong student support services offered by ANC.

Given below are a few excerpts from the interview with Dasuni:

Q: Why did you join ANC right after school?

A: After I completed my OLs at CIS, I wanted to go to Canada or the USA for higher studies, but I wasn’t quite ready for a university experience abroad. ANC had continued to gain stature as the only place where one could have access to the same standard of education as practiced in the Canada/ US. ANC’s Canada Transfer Programme was the best option for me, and ANC guaranteed a smooth transition from O Levels to university level study.

Q: Did ANC meet your expectations?

A: Absolutely! I was never a star student at the beginning, but ANC offers an outstanding network of support which includes dedicated academic advisers who provide students with valuable one- on- one mentorship and faculty members, very friendly and approachable; it’s extremely easy to get in touch with any staff member or professor at ANC. When they realized I need to work on improving my GPA, I was assigned a mentor from the Office of Student Affairs. He helped me pick out classes and eventually choose the right major based on my career goals. I improved my GPA in no time. ANC also offers remedial classes and SAT classes free of charge.

Q: How was the transition from ANC to York University?

A: All the academic credits I earned at ANC got transferred to York University. Thanks to ANC’s Canada Transfer division, it was a hassle free process. They attend to everything from one-on-one meetings with the student and parents to discussions with representatives from Canadian universities and embassy to college and visa applications to ensure a positive acceptance. ANC has also worked in close collaboration with York University and a number of ANC students, including a few friends of mine, have already transferred to York University, so everything went off without a hitch.

Q: In addition to academics, what are the other opportunities for growth and advancement?

A: The experiences ANC students have outside of the classroom are also wonderful: opportunities for involvement include several student clubs and societies. I was an active member of the Performance Arts Club. It was a one- of- a- kind experience which enabled me to showcase my music skills on stage as well as to work with an amazing group of friends who were there for one another to find the right balance between academics and extracurricular activities.

Dasuni’s mother conveyed…

“Indeed, it was a great service! I’m grateful to the top management of ANC, academic head, the student affairs office, and all the staff members for always being available to us and for their guidance, especially the student affairs office for keeping track of the student’s performance, constantly informing us on top universities, arranging meetings with foreign university representatives, and providing guidance for visa. Any student planning to study in Canada can get a good start at ANC. I wish ANC continued success!”
