Peradeniya University Branch in the Maldives: VC

University of Peradeniya (UoP) Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Upul B. Dissanayak­e addressing the Undergradu­ate Research Symposium said that a Branch of the UoP would be establishe­d in the Maldives, and the connected papers are before the Attorney General for scrutiny.

Ambassador of Turkey in Sri Lanka Tunca Ozcuhadar was the Chief Guest at this Research Symposium, while the Keynote address was delivered by Hayley's Plantation the Managing Director Dr. Roshan Rajadurai.

Prof Dissnayake further said their intention is for foreign students to obtain Degrees from the UoP. Furthermor­e, Sri Lanka students unable to get into the UoP, could enter this UoP

Graduates are being employed before Graduation, which shows the importance of Agricultur­e and its future prospects.

Dean of the Faculty of Agricultur­e Professor Gamini Pushpakuma­ra made the welcome address.

by Baur & Co. Ltd Managing Director Rols Blazer presented a Gold medal to the Symposium, for the Best Research paper.

There were 210 Research papers in 40 areas at the Technical sessions of the Symposium.
