Top US Clinician Award goes to Dr. Gunaratnam

Naresh T. Gunaratnam, M. D, a physician of Sri Lankan ancestry, was the recipient of the 2018 Distinguished Clinician Award presented by the Amer ican

Presenting the award, the AGA said Dr Gunaratnam, “has made a huge impact on patient care in his community and improved gastroenterology-oncology care by starting the endoscopic ultrasound & interventional GI program at St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan”.

Dr. Gunaratnam, who is a product of the D.S. Senanayake College in Colombo 7, is a director of research and obesity management.

He has been visiting Sri Lanka annually and has helped run a girls orphanage and elder care home in Trincomalee for the past 17 years.
