Mega display at the Festival of Minis on March 10

-

The Mighty Mini Club of Sri Lanka has organized a Festival of Minis to be held on March 10 on F. R. Senanayake Mawatha, Colombo 7, opposite the Town Hall, when around 100 Minis are expected be on public display from 2 pm to 6 pm.

The Minis on display will range from the earliest (1958) to the current BMW Minis categorised as Classic ' round nose' Minis, Clubmans, Wagons, Pickups, Mokes, Racing Minis and BMW Minis. There will also be food stalls and Mini memorabilia stalls, as well as Sponsor's stalls that would include tyre merchants, suppliers of batteries, lubricants and everything else that would interest any motoring enthusiast.

Minis, wherever they go, turn heads, and some 100 Minis in their 'Sunday Best', in one place, would surely be attractive to even passers- by. While the attraction of the Mini to the general public is often its ' cuteness' or the enchanting looks, even after 50 years, after the first Mini left the production line, Classic Minis are being raced competitively, both locally and internationally.

A separate section of the display at the Festival of Minis will be reserved for race- prepared Minis, which are not usually driven on public roads. These will be star attractions, as it is very rarely they are on public display.

The Mighty Mini Club of Sri Lanka was formed in 1995, with some 30 members at its inauguration. Since then, the Club has grown to a membership of over 570. The membership comprises of owners and enthusiasts of Minis of all categories. Each year the Club organises events such as Rallies, Track Meets, Road Trips, Displays, and CSR events that raise funds for charities and humanitarian projects. As interest in Minis grow, more and more Classic Minis are being restored and brought back into active use, with the Club membership continuing to increase steadily.

All Mini enthusiasts and indeed, car enthusiasts are invited to come and enjoy viewing the Minis and meeting their owners. Entrance ise free.

The Festival of Minis is sponsored by Pre s t i g e Automobile- Local Agent for the Mini.
