MoUs signed between J'Pura Uni and NSYSU

Two Memorandum of Understand­ing ( MOUs) have been signed between the University of Sri Jayewarden­epura ( USJP) and the National Sun Yatsen University ( NSYSU), providing an umbrella for increased collaborat­ion between the two universiti­es.

An 11-member delegation from NSYSU visited USJP for the inaugurati­on of the newly built Environmen­tal Change Sciences and Technology Innovation Center ( ESTIC) at the Department of Zoology.

Prof Ranil de Silva, Director of the World Class University Project’s collaborat­ions with NSYSU was instrument­al in the signing of the two MoUs by Professor Ying-Yao Cheng, President, NSYSU and Prof Sampath Amaratunge, Vice Chancellor USJP.

Some of the benefits of the MoUs would be:

Double, split- joint collaborat­ive research projects leading to Master's and Doctoral postgradua­te biotechnol­ogy d e g re e s b e t we e n NSYSU and USJP Multi- disciplina­ry innovative research collaborat­ions Tuition-waiver scholarshi­p by NSYSU Public Private Partnershi­ps linking industry and academia, leading to product developmen­t targeting global market

Prof de Silva said the visit has undoubtedl­y strengthen­ed the bond between the two universi- ties, and it's laid a basis for even closer, more cooperativ­e relations between NSYSU and USJP in the future.
