Asia Asset to meet Pyramid Wilmar in final

Asia Asset Finance and Pyramid Wilmar qualified to meet in the finals of the BMW Hyundai- MCA ' C' Division 50 Over League Tournament when they defeated Commercial Bank and HNB Finance respective­ly in the two semi-final matches played yesterday.

In the first semi final match at the MCA Grounds Sachindra Hiraj (101) guided Asia Asset Finance to put up a total of 219 in 45.5 overs. In reply Commercial Bank were dismissed for 142 in 38.3 overs. Asia Asset bowlers Charith Rajapakshe, Diluk Hettiarach­chi, Nimesh Perera and Dileepa Jayalath shared nine wickets among them troubled the bankmen.

Pyramid Wilmar booked their berth to play in the finals when they scored a close 16 run victory over HNB Finance at the Army Grounds, Dobagoda in the second semi final. Mishane Silva scoring a match winning century (106) helped the winners to post 223 in their allotted overs. HNB Finance batsmen were put in difficulty by Asheera Warnakulas­uriya who claimed 5 for 59 dismissed HNB Finance for 207 in 41.1 overs.

The final will be played next Saturday at the MCA ground.
