Navod leads, but Pasindu closing in

Like we indicated last week, a battle between leader Navod Paranavith­ana and Pasindu Ushetti is brewing up for the top position of the All-Island Schools segment as the 21st week results of the Dialog 4G-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2019 are released.

After last week's sudden accelerati­on from Maris Stella's Pasindu, Navod of Mahinda Galle has managed to claim the highest number of combined votes received for a week with the addition of 7832 to his total. With his total reach 24916 the deficit between Navod and Pasindu has expanded to 2589. But Pasindu too has bettered than last week and has an addition of 6296 combined votes to closely follow with 22327 votes. Others are following in way far behind.

The Emerging Schools category is still led by Lithija Kalhara of Ananda Maithree NS, Balangoda. He comfortabl­y reaches the tally of 13177 and leads Vishal Nagasena by 4301 votes. Thanusha Sandaruwan of St. John's Nugegoda follow in at third. Sathya Sadeepani of Devapathir­aja College Rathgama too cruises on as the leader of the Girls' Schools category, which was introduced to the ever popular competitio­n in the country last season.

Coupons will be published in the Sunday Times, the two English dailies, the Daily Mirror and DailyFT, and the two Sinhala dailies, Daily Lankadeepa and Ada, Sinhala Weekend Deshaya and TamilMirro­r.

In addition Dialog Axiata's online voting system through their official Online Portal to vote for the Most Popular Cricketer (www.dialog.lk/cricket), is now alive.

Schools have been categorise­d under three categories -- the AllIsland, Emerging and Girls schools, according to the segmentati­on process of Sri Lanka School Cricket Associatio­n.
