Senior banker, Jayaraja Chandrasek­era assumes duties as the new NSB Chairman

A senior banking profession­al with over 40 years experience in the local bank arena, Jayaraja Chandrasek­era assumed duties as the new Chairman of National Savings Bank (NSB) this week.

Mr. Chandrasek­era has served at HNB in various posts including as a member of its Senior Corporate Management and later at Pan Asia Bank and Zenith BPO Pvt Ltd as a member of the Board of Directors since leaving his alma mater Royal College Colombo.

He also extended his profession­al services as the Managing Director of Del logistics Internatio­nal and functioned in the capacity of Management Consultant. He has an MBA from the University of Sunderland.

In addition, he has also actively engaged with religious institu- tions especially, Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya and at present he is the Secretary of the Dayaka Sabawa.

After assuming office as the Chairman N SB, Mr. Chandrasek­era told the gathering at the welcome ceremony that he is looking at a new angle in future activities of the bank in a profession­al manner.

He noted that he will work for the betterment of the bank taking necessary policy decisions keeping in mind that he is the non executive chairman and treating everyone alike without cast, creed or religious difference­s.

Minister of Ports and Shipping and Southern Developmen­t Sagala Ratnayake, State Minister of Finance Eran Wickramara­tne, MP D. M. Swaminatha­n, former NSB Chairman and Ministry of Finance Director General – ERD Priyantha Ratnayake and the Board of Directors of NSB and General Manager/ CEO of NSB Dhammika Perera and corporate management were among those who attended the ceremony.
