Curtain brings down on 2nd contest

With Royal College emerging winners in the key Under-20 clash with Nalanda College, the curtain came down of the second Triangular Volleyball Tournament 2019, organised by the Royal College Union Volleyball Advisory and Management Committee at the Royal College Sports Complex last Tuesday.

Participat­ed by Royal College, Ananda College and Nalanda College, the twoday competitio­n was worked off in age categories of Under-12, 13, 14, 16, 18 and Under-20. Ananda College emerged champions in Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 categories while Royal College won the Under-13, Under-18 and Under20 age groups.

The all important Under-20 finals was between Royal College and Nalanda College. The game got off in a terrific pace as Royal shot into the lead early in the first set. Nalanda too matched the Reid Avenue boys in attack and defence. In the 17th minute of the first half the scores stood 15-all. Nalanda smothered the strong attack of the Royalists and they too made some excellent attacks

which the Royal defence failed to handle.

The first set ended with a close 25-23 in favour of the Royalists. It looked that the Nalandians had lost their way in the beginning of the second half as Royal led 18-15 at half way. But the gritty Maroon Best Attacker: Eranda Lakshan

and Silver boys came back to the game strongly in the latter part of the half, but Royal finished the game victorious with a close 27-25.
