Pakistan presents computers, printers to Army’s peacekeepi­ng training centre

The Government of Pakistan through its High Commission has presented 15 computers and printers to newly establishe­d Peacekeepi­ng Training Centre of Sri Lankan Army.

Pakistan’s High Commission­er Retd. Maj. Gen. Dr. Shahid Ahmad Hashmat handed over the computers and printers to Sri Lanka’s Army Commander Lt. Gen. Mahesh Senanayake at a ceremony held at Army Headquarte­rs on Frdiay.

Pakistan appreciate­d the role of Sri Lankan armed forces in the UN Peacekeepi­ng operations. He elaborated that relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are time- tested and based on mutual trust. He hoped that both countries will continue to make efforts for nurturing new vistas of cooperatio­n in the years ahead.

He underscore­d that Pakistan has been the most significan­t and consistent contributo­r to the UN Peacekeepi­ng operations, with the participat­ion of over 150,000 troops since 1960.

Army Commander Mahesh Senanayake expressed the gratitude over the assistance. He said that it will help further improving the IT facilities at the Peace Keeping Training Centre.
