Experience South Asia’s First LIVE 5G Showcase at Dialog Iconic
Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, followed the announcement of the region’s first 5G Pilot transmission with the launch of a Live 5G Showcase which will be open to the public until the 10th of April. The showcase was instigated on the 2nd of April in the presence of Harin Fernando, MP - Minister of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports, Ajith P. Perera, MP - Minister of Digital Infrastructure and Information Technology, and Tan Yang Thai - High Commissioner of Malaysia to Sri Lanka.
The showcase featured a holographic video call together with a holographic remote music production, 3608K video calling, and 3608K Live Virtual Reality enabled video streaming, as well as an ‘AI powered Digital Twins’ mechanism and the ‘Robotic Arm’ amongst other 5G offerings at its flagship experience centre in Colombo, according to the press release issued by Dialog Axiata.
The introduction of 5G wireless networks paves the way towards the 4th Industrial Revolution by providing High Bandwidth, Ultra Low Latency & Massive Connectivity; enabling communication beyond connecting people, to bridge a mesh of connected machines all communicating with each other. Further, the launch of 5Gwith demonstrated speeds of over 3 Gbpsand the potential of attaining speeds up to 5 Gbps, along with an achievable low latency of 1 millisecond on a 100 MHz spectrum will spark an unprecedented wave of innovative use cases centered around Internet of Things( IoT), Artificial Intelligence( AI), Mixed/ Virtual Reality and Robotics.
