Beating the heat

Millions of people are suffering because of the daily power cuts and the heat wave, with the sun directly above Sri Lanka. In these pictures, people are seen beating the heat by enjoying a bath in the overflowing Ridiyagama weva near Ambalantota while in Serunuwara, walking across a parched paddy field is a woman who is wondering what happened to all the crops they laboured for.
