-

The Third Edition of Madhubhashini Disanayaka Ratnayake’s Gratiaen Prize winning novel, “There is Something I Have to Tell You” was brought out on April 2, at the Innovate Sri Lanka Exhibition held by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura to celebrate its 60th Anniversary.

The book was presented to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Sampath Amaratunge, its Registrar, Mr. G. Britto, writer Elmo Jayawardene, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya of the Department of Social Studies, Open University, and Dr. Harshana Rambukwella, Director, Post Graduate Institute of English, Open University. Madhubhashini is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English Language Teaching at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Harshana Rambukwella said that the very fact that a third edition was coming out of an English novel written in Sri Lanka is testimony to its merit, and that it is important that the era the novel talks about is not forgotten. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said that though she had first felt a sinking of the heart when she heard of the subject matter of the novel, she enjoyed reading it, but more importantly, felt that it was a much needed reflection on a difficult period in the country.

The Third Edition has been brought out by Sarasavi Publishers.
