Nestle Kids Athletics Championsh­ip Grade 5, a success

Ginigathen­a Primary School, Kottawa Dharmapala Vidyalaya and Vijeriya Primary Embilipiti­ya were top achievers in the Grade 5 event of Nestle Kids Athletics Championsh­ip, held at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy.

Ginigathen­a Primary School topped the Boy’s segment ahead of Government Muslim Boy’s School, Akkaraipat­tu, who finished at second, and Ambagamuwa Model Primary School, who finished third.

Kottawa Dharmapala Vidyalaya topped the Girls’ segment. Ambagamuwa Model Primary School finished behind the toppers at second while Udawala Primary School Embilipiti­ya came in behind at third.

The Mixed segment was dominated by Vijeriya Primary School Embilipiti­ya, who finished in front of Nochchimod­dai Primary School, Vavuniya and Alakolawew­a Vidyalaya, Walapane finished behind at third.

Sri Lanka Schools Kids Athletics Championsh­ip is part of Nestle Healthy Kids programme, which teaches school children on improved diets, healthy cooking, hydration, food safety and hygiene. The programme is part of Nestle’s global initiative, Nestle for Healthier Kids, which aims at helping 50 million children lead healthier lives by 2030, by offering nutritious products and advice for families on nutrition and exercise.
