APIS to Conduct Classes for IBSL Exams

The opening ceremony of the Academy for Profession­al and Internatio­nal Studies (Pvt) Limited, APIS, was held on 07th April 2019 at its premises 2nd Floor, Dammika Motors Building, Kalubowila.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Chief Executive Officers of the three largest commercial banks in Sri Lanka, M r. N Vasanthank­umar of People’s Bank, Mr. S. Renganatha­n of Commercial Bank and Mr. Kapila Ariyaratne of Seylan Bank along with other eminent personnel from legal, trading and non- banking financial sectors.

The Academy was launched by two experience­d ex- bankers, Aruna Ranasinghe, former De p u t y G e n e r a l Manager- Internatio­nal of a leading commercial bank in Sri Lanka and Head of Trade at several local and foreign banks, both locally and overseas, and Priyanka Wanigaseke­ra, a senior banker who has worked with two leading commercial banks and finance companies in Sri Lanka.

APIS offers classes for Intermedia­te in Applied Banking & Finance (IABF) and Diploma in Applied Banking & Finance (DABF) examinatio­ns conducted by the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL).

Explaining the activities of t he Academy, Aru n a Ranasinghe, the Course Director, said that they conduct classes for all core and optional subjects in English medium and currently, the classes will be held during weekends. However, if there is a demand for weekday classes, the Academy may arrange weekday classes as well, he confirmed. He also stated that APIS’s objective is not only to get their students to pass exams but also to produce knowledgea­ble bankers to the industry. To achieve this objective, they have plans to conduct special lectures to students on various critical areas in banking such as risk management, customer service, compliance, informatio­n security, etc, in addition to their normal classes.

The lecture panel of APIS consists of experience­d lecturers who are academical­ly and profession­ally qualified subject matter experts from the banking industry and other relevant fields. These lecturers have produced excellent results at past IABF and DABF exams in their previous engagement­s with other banking academies.

APIS has taken necessary steps to ensure that they provide the best learning environmen­t to all its students with modern teaching aids.
