CA Sri Lanka members can now obtain AICPA internatio­nal associate membership

The Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) continued to make inroads across the global accounting arena, as it signed yet another Memorandum of Understand­ing (MoU) with the Associatio­n of Internatio­nal Certified Profession­al Accountant­s (AICPA), which aims to strengthen the standing of CA Sri Lanka members internatio­nally.

The MoU signed byJagath Perera, President of CA Sri Lanka and Jim Knafo, Director, Global Alliances — Public Accounting of AICPA in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, paves the pathway for CA Sri Lanka Members to obtain the AICPA Internatio­nal Associate membership.

The agreement will also open up avenues for both profession­al bodies to collaborat­e including on Continuing Profession­al Developmen­t (CPD) and the administra­tion of CPA Exams in Sri Lanka.

AICPA is a global body of profession­al accountant­s, combining the strengths of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant­s (CIMA), with 35 offices in 20 countries. It represents 667,000 members and students in public and management accounting.

At the signing ceremony, Venkkat Ramanan, Regional Vice President - Asia Pacific of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant­s (CIMA), Manil Jayesinghe, Vice President of CA Sri Lanka; Lasantha Wickremasi­nghe, Immediate Past President of CA Sri Lanka and Sanjaya Bandara, Member of Council of CA Sri Lanka were also present.

CA Sri Lanka enjoys agreements with some of the world’s top internatio­nal profession­al accounting organisati­ons, including the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s in England and Wales (ICAEW), Chartered Accountant­s Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ), CPA Australia and Chartered Institute of Management Accountant­s (CIMA).
