Abans conducts meaningful religious activities in celebration of their 50th anniversary
Abans conducted religious activities that promoted peace and harmony within the Sri Lankan community. Taking place throughout the month of June, these activities signified Abans’ goal of endorsing national unity while respecting the distinctive religious and ethnic diversity that our country is known for.
On 11th and 12th June, Abans organised a series of ceremonies in Kandy that recognised the Sri Lanka’s four primary religions. First, the Buddhist ceremony took place at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a significant religious and historic landmark, where Abans honoured the Tooth Relic, performed an alms-giving for over 100 monks and donated LG air conditioners to the Dalada Maligawa “Dhana Shalawa” as part of their overall CSR initiative. This was followed by a Christian service at the “Daya Nivasa” Child Protection Centre along Peradeniya Road, as well as a special Hindu observance at the Kandy Pillaiyar Kovil. An Islamic religious function, which occurred at Masjidul Noor (Digana Jumma Masjid), wrapped up this sequence of events. Each ceremony offered prayers for the bright future of the nation.
These activities were organised by the Management and the staff of Abans, representing a reinforcement of their consistent contributions to Mihintale Aloka Pooja over the past few years.
Further, Abans organised a Dansala in celebration of the Poson Poya Day on 16th June. Providing everyone -- old, young, rich, and poor -- the opportunity to enjoy a delicious dinner, the Dansala saw the participation of over 3,000 people. The event was organised by the Abans Sports Club.
These events commemorated Abans’ 50th anniversary, espousing the role that the Company has played in enhancing Sri Lankan living standards throughout the past decades.
