-

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) and CPA Ireland this week signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement to strengthen the standing of CA Sri Lanka and CPA Ireland Members to help them achieve greater professional success across Europe and other parts of the world.

The agreement was signed on Monday by CA Sri Lanka President Mr. Jagath Perera and CPA Ireland President Mr. Gearoid O’Driscoll at a ceremony held at the CPA Ireland office, in the presence of council members of CA Sri Lanka and officials of CPA Ireland.

The Mutual Recognition Agreement with the Irish accountancy body allows members of CA Sri Lanka to obtain Associate Membership of CPA Ireland by completing the online test in Irish Taxation.

Speaking on the importance of the agreement with CPA Ireland, Mr. Perera emphasized that in an increasingly challenging environment, and with the accountancy profession facing renewed competition, it was important to look at professional progression from a new perspective. “Therefore, instead of limiting ourselves to only one qualification, we must look to the future with a new mindset by opening up new avenues for professional progression. This is why obtaining yet another membership from another recognised professional body such as CPA Ireland is important, because it will help further strengthen the prospects of our members at a global level.”

The CPA qualification is amongst the highest-rated qualifications within the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) family and is recognised across all continents spanning from Europe to the Americas to Australia. CPA Ireland members work in over 50 countries. The qualification offers a range of career prospects around the world. CPA Ireland also offers its members a rich variety of CPD courses and technical resources, running over 120 courses a year with a mixture of both online and classroom courses.
