‘Wishma’ introduces many new faces to cinema

‘Wishma’, (The Blessing), an entertaini­ng musical movie which marks the entry of a number of new artistes to the cinema has got the greenligha­t from the Public Performanc­e Board and would be ready for release soon.

The debut direction by Randika Wijemanne, an award winning editor with over 15 years of experience in the film and television industries, ‘Wishma’ is produced by 2S Ventures (Pvt) Ltd, a newly formed film production company.

A mystical adventurou­s journey of a child in search of his father, “Wishma” has a cast comprised of several prominent stars and a number of child artistes who mark their entry to cinema. Popular stars Saranga Disasekara, Dinakshie Priyasad, Roshan Pilapitiya, Umayangana Wickramasi­nghe are in the main roles along with child artistes Onel Damsath, Malsha Divyanjale­e, Deshan Chamara and Naveen Saumya. Other children in the cast includes Nilukshi Madhushika, Anura Waragoda, Dilip Manohara, Rohan Paul, Kumara Ranapura, Sarath Peiris, Lakshman Amarasekar­a, Nihal Gamage and Kapila Samarakoon.

This musical movie has eight songs and the musical score is written by the first timers Sameera Weerasingh­e and Lalinda Hapugoda. The lyrics were penned by Manjula Bandara and Sameera Weerasingh­e and the playback songs are sung by Kalpana Kavindi, Nishi Adhikar, Onel Damsath and Sameera Weerasingh­e himself.

Scripted by Shiraj Razeen and Sandamali Ruhunage the film targets the family audience and it is produced with the latest technology including 5.1 surround sound

Shot in the locations around Horana, Mathugama, Bulathsing­hala, Avissawell­a, Sithawaka and Colombo, the film is edited by Randika Wijemanne.

The production crew also includes Prageeth de Silva as the assistant director, Dhammika Gunasena as production manager, Nilantha Ranasinghe as the art director and Ubhaya Disanayake handling the makeup department.
