Hayleys thrash Under-19s by 8 wickets

Hayleys did short work against the SLC Under-19 team to emerge winners by 8 wickets in the 27th Singer-MCA Premier League 50- over Cricket Tournament match played at the Colts grounds yesterday.

Heyleys left-arm spin combinatio­n of Chaturanga de Silva and Prabath Jayasuriya rattled the Under-19 batting line to end up with figures of 4 for 39 and 3 for 36 respective­ly. The young Sri Lankans were dismissed for 168 in 41.5 overs. Johanne de Zilwa, Dilum Sudeera, Avishka

Tharindu and Mohammed Shamaz were the main contributo­rs but none of them failed to carry their bats for a big score.

Hayleys didn't find any terrors in the Under- 19 attack as Ron Chandragup­tha carried on his bat to be unbeaten on 78 to guide his team to a comfortabl­e win. Chandragup­tha's match winning innings came off in 78 deliveries and included 11 hits to the ropes. Maduranga Zoysa and Kamindu Ishara too lent a good helping hand to score 37 and 45.

Unichela and John Keells ' A, 'bad light brought the game to a halt to be resulted a no-decision. Batting first MAS Holdings put up a formidable score of 248 in 45 overs. Pathum Nissanka top scored with a well compiled 53 while Chamara Silva ( 49), Mahela Udawatta (47), Kamindu Mendis ( 36) and Thilakarat­ne Dilshan (26) were the other contributo­rs. Mohommad Shiraz and Chamikara Edirisingh­e bowled well to capture 4 for 68 and 3 for 38 respective­ly. When bad light interrupte­d play in the 13th over, John Keells 'A' were 61 for the loss of one wicket.
