- By M. Shamil Amit

Sri Lanka Emerging XI suffered their second defeat in the ACC Asia Emerging Cup when Pakistan Emerging XI beat Sri Lanka handsomely by 90 runs yesterday.

The architect of their win was right arm pacie Mohammad Hasnan who ended with impressive figures of 6 for 19 and was supported by Umer Khan and Khushdil Shah who together shared four wickets between them.

Pakistan Emerging XI taking first lease of the wicket made a modest score of 183 runs and Sri Lanka Emerging XI in their run chase were making steady progress and at one stage was on 89 for 3 before Hasnan ran through the late order batting to bundle them out for a paltry 93 runs.

It was a remarkable collapse that helped Pakistan maintained their unbeaten record in the tournament. Earlier Sri Lanka Emerging XI restricted Pakistan Emerging XI for 183 runs with Asitha Fernando, Amila Aponso and Kalana Perera doing the damage.

Sri Lanka--the defending champions earlier lost to Oman by four wickets.

Meanwhile host Bangladesh Emerging XI coasted to a convincing six wicket win over India Emerging XI at Savar 3 ground.

Bangladesh Emerging XI’s win came on the back of two quick-fire knocks coming from Najimul Shanto who slammed a 88 ball 94 that included 14 boundaries and two sixes, and Soumya Sarkar who cracked a 68 ball 73 with seven boundaries and three sixes.

The pair associated in a valuable

second wicket partnership of 145 runs for Bangladesh Emerging XI in pursuit of 247 runs for victory to reach the target with ease in the 43rd over.

Half tons by Abdul Malik and Shahidullah helped Afghanistan Emerging XI to record a convincing nine wicket win over Oman Emerging XI to chalk up their first win of the tournament.

Malik was associated in two fruitful partnerships-- 84 runs with Shahidullah and an unbroken 70 runs for the second wicket with Bahir Shah enabling them to race to the target of 154 runs in the 31st over. Nepal Emerging XI too recorded their first win when they defeated

Hong Kong Emerging XI by 40 runs.
