Achieving Reporting Excellence - People’s Leasing & Finance PLC wins 8 awards at ARC Awards International 2019
People’s Leasing & Finance PLC recently won 8 prestigious aw a rd s at the 33rd International ARC Awards Competition held at the SHILLA Hotel Seoul, South Korea.
This was the 3rd consecutive year that People’s Leasing participated in this event, and each year the Company received several recognitions including the Grand Award for Best of Sri Lanka in year 2017.
The eight category awards secured by People’s Leasing 2018/ 19 Annual Re port at the ARC Awards International 2019 in ‘ Financial Services - General sector’ are; ‘Financial Data’ (Gold Award), ‘NonTraditional Annual Report’ ( Gold Award), ‘ Chairman’s/ President’s Letter ( Silver Award), ‘ Cover Photo/ Design’ ( Bronze Award), ‘ Interior Design’ (Bronze Award), ‘Written Text’ ( Bronze Award), ‘ Printing & Production’ ( Bronze Award) and ‘Photography’ (Honors).
Post 2013, the Annual Report of the Company started to compete under the finance sector and remained established amongst the top 3 greats within the industry in the local context. The Report was then recognized at the South Asian level several times with the receipt of awards at SAFA Best Presented Annual Report Awards including the Gold Award for Financial Services Sector in 2018 competition. The ARC recognition can be considered as the Oscars equivalent for Annual Reporting. This scrutinise reporting and presentation on candidate’s performance within the financial year.
More than 2,100 candidates competed within this year’s competition representing 34 countries, and winning 8 awards at this level made sure that People’s Leasing was elevated to global level. The Company was able to do so for three consecutive years.
Innovativeness was maintained and improved throughout the years. Peoples Leasing currently excels in Integrated reporting, GRI reporting and even in Sustainable Development approaches.
Practical aspects which relates to sustainability has been adequately visually represented, and such strategies have acted as the catalyst for People’s Leasing’s grand achievement. Chief Manager- Finance Omal Sumanasiri proudly noted ‘Among several others who prepare reports we always try to differentiate our reporting practices by remaining committed to put what we report into practical use’.
The achievement, according to the Chief Manager, is due to a collective team effort. The Chairman, the Board of Directors, Corporate Management lead by Chief Executive Officer, Smart Media The Annual Report Company and the entire knowledgeable team played a unique role within this endeavour. These awards are to be taken as a reflection of operational efficiency and excellence, and People’s Leasing wishes to take it to the next level and aim for the next grand award.
