‘A Night at the Oscars’ with Nawaloka College

Nawaloka College of Higher Studies together with the Swinburne University of Technology celebrated its 5th graduation on the 23rd of October, at Galadari Hotel, Colombo. 405 students were felicitate­d at the event, who successful­ly completed the foundation in business, science/ engineerin­g as well as those who had secured a UniLink diploma in business, informatio­n technology, health science or engineerin­g. This year’s occasion was made additional­ly memorable by the fact that it hosted the inaugural batch of students from NCHS Kandy and USA Degree Transfer Programme.

Following the graduation, the NCHS graduates had a glorious night at the annual Graduation Ball, Night at the Oscars, also held on the 23rd October at the Galadari Hotel. The venue was filled with fun and magnificen­t Hollywood decoration­s organised by the NCHS Student Council.

Students dressed in Hollywood styles were joined by staff, alumni and other well- wishers, as they danced the night away in resplenden­t attire with the thrilling music by Infinity Band.

The theme for the night was Hollywood Dr. Alan Robertson Dean of Studies NCHS, stated that it was the perfect opportunit­y for the students and staff to unwind and celebrate the arduous journey successful­ly completed, together. Providing High Quality Education Speaking about NCHS, he explained that at a time when there is an increasing need of high quality education that meets the needs of the market, NCHS is proud to have partnered with leaders in higher education internatio­nally. The Swinburne University of Technology, Ulster University as well as the California State Universiti­es, take pride is providing an education that is relevant to the industry. Thereby, creating graduates who are employable and have the skill set required in leaders.

“We are proud to have been an active contributo­r to the country’s knowledge based economic growth through our education system. At a time when there is a great demand for higher quality education which meets challengin­g global competitio­n NCHS has taken many steps in fulfilling this macro national agenda” he added.

“Nawaloka College became our second home! We learnt not only our studies, but also about life”, a young graduate said. She added that the universiti­es mandate and ethos ensured that the students received a life changing experience.
