National school principals face transfer dilemma

-

Principals who had been appointed to national schools around the country are in confusion over their work station, as the current principals of those schools have refused to accept their transfer orders.

The principals have continued to report to the same station despite letters of transfer which were sent out by the Education Ministry's Transfer Board.

Accordingly, seven appointees who were posted to national schools in Dompe, Bulathsinhala, Bambalapi t i ya, Mawanella, Weligama and Panadura were unable to report to work.

The Education Ministry recently appointed 153 candidates as national school principals, posting them to several schools across the country.

The Ceylon Teachers Union ( CTU), which had taken up these cases, said they had written to the Ministry to bring to its notice the injustice faced by the new appointees.

"They are continuing to report to the same schools through the backing of politicians. This must stop," CTU General Secretary Joseph Stalin said. (cc)
