TVS sponsors Inter-School Big Match Competitio­ns

In a revolution­ary initiative, the renowned multi-national automobile brand, TVS partners with two of the biggest cricketing encounters in Sri Lanka, in a bid to drive inter-school sportsmans­hip and to encourage student participat­ion in a distinguis­hed game which is loved the world over.

Stepping in as sponsor for the Battle of the Brothers, the muchawaite­d cricketing encounter between Thurstan College and Isipathana College and the Battle of the Gold, between the Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa and St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa, TVS awards each ‘ Man- of- theTournam­ent’ a notable, world-class, premium bike, as a token of recognitio­n of superior sportsmans­hip.

The automobile retail giant is renowned for partnering with sporting encounters on a national level, having been the title sponsor of the Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka in 2019.

TVS gifted the Man-Of-The-Match of each ODI encounter, namely the Sri Lankan cricketing heroes Angelo Mathews, Kusal Janith and Wishwa Fernando with the TVS NTORQ, a navigation-enabled, technologi­cally superior sporty smart scooter. Cricketing legend Lasith Malinga and The-man-of-the-series Angelo Matthews were also awarded a racing-enabled, best-in-class, TVS Apache RTR 310. This distinguis­hed model is globally considered to be ‘ scarily fast’, a feature that’s distinctiv­e of Lasith Malinga, one of the fastest bowlers himself, and boasts features such as a tracktuned 6-speed gear box and an onboard race computer.

Since its inception in 1963, the Battle of the Brothers has been widely considered to be one of the most anticipate­d cricketing faceoffs and is the flagship sporting event which draws in hundreds of sports enthuses, including each school’s current and past student bodies. The year 2020 marks the 57th Battle of Brothers and the 40th (50 Over) One-Day encounter 2020.

‘Man-of-the-Tournament’ of each cricketing encounter will be awarded the TVS NTORQ 125 Race Edition Scooter, which is exclusivel­y designed to excel in terms of performanc­e, style and technology.
