Tailor and a barber

athuru Mithuru’ made by actor and d i rector Giriraj Kaushalya is newest Sinahala movie to be released in theat res. A production by Alankulama Films, the CEL release is to be shown in cinemas from March 20.

The late actor Jayalath Manoratne play one of the main roles in the film along with seasoned stars like Mahendra Perera, Giriraj Kaushalya, Rodney Warnakula, Gihan Fernando, Priyantha Senevirath­ne, Kusum Renu, Maureen Charuni, Jayani Senanayake, Rasanjana Nandasiri, Sandani Hettigoda Wasantha Vittachchi, Sampath Jayaweera, Saman Hemarathna, Chandrasom­a Binduhewa and Mihiri Sirithilak­a.

Set in a rural backdrop, ‘Kathuru Mithuru’ revolves around a traditiona­l hairdresse­r and tailor. One common instrument used in both their occupation­s is the pair of scissors and their friendship is revolved around it.

The hairdresse­r has a daughter and the tailor a son and both of them have completed their university education. Yet they don’t have jobs and both the youngsters want to join their fathers’ occupation­s. But their interests are stongly objected by both fathers. Will the young couple be able to convince their fathers and take the traditions jobs to a new height? ‘Kathuru Mithuru’ continues with many hilarious and entertaini­ng moments that take place at the barber and tailoring shops.

Having directed ‘Sikuru Hathe’ as his debut and ‘Suhada Koka’ as his second, ‘ Kathuru Mithuru’ is Giriraj’s third direction.

Started in theatre Giririaj moved to small screen and later scripted a number of teledramas including ‘ Kathura’, ‘ Ethuma’ and ‘ Naana Kamaraya’.

Following the footsteps of his late father, Dhammika Siriwarden­a, Basura Siriwarden­a produced ‘Kathuru Mithuru’ as the seventh production of Alankulama Films.
