April 24th 2020, Colombo – ANC -Modern Montessori International, a member of the ANC Education Group and a joint venture project between ANC group and MMI Singapore today announced their plans for over 550 Montessori children across their 3 MMI branches located in Colombo 5, Dehiwela and Kotte to start their 2nd Term Work on May 11th 2020 despite the lockdown, tackling Covid-19 head on in an innovative way, by exploring an educational journey for the little ones via Online Virtual Platform.

MMI teachers provided academic support even during lockdown in the interim month of April, by facilitating organized admin groups via whatapp and other social media platforms with class teachers and parents and work schedules been given to parents in advance and regular updates and guidance to ensure students maintain their progress daily.

“ANC –MMI teachers are keeping our students entertained and engaged with lockdown in full mode and we’ve put together some great ways to keep the fun going even during the month of May”.

MMI’s four Montessori Class levels; Nursery, Nursery 1, Nursery 2 and Kindergarten for children of age groups between 2 to 5 years are provided a daily activity schedule and time table from morning until lunch time in keeping with their Montessori education during the lockdown. A typical day for our children will start with breakfast and dressing-up, followed by morning walk, morning workout, and watering plants, then begins academic time for language, math’s, circle time, thematic and practical life activities such as pouring liquids, chopping fruits, rolling dough even cooking and baking are part of the program. To keep energy levels high students are given an afternoon snack and then they start engaging in learning time and hands-on activities and

languages, sounds, songs and finally end the day with creative and quiet time with arts and crafts, Legos, drawings, paintings, coloring, puzzles and reading. The work activities for the day include lots of physical and creative learning so that it helps stimulate your children’s minds and keep them interested.

Parents share the activities that students accomplish for the day via photos and videos and in turn MMI teachers provide feedback to each parent and share any corrections on the work done. The photos and videos of the Montessori students are shared on the MMI Facebook page.

To further facilitate our student learning, our teachers will commence online classes from May 11th onwards. With online classes you can still play an important role in your child’s education as the learning coach, monitoring progress and keeping your child motivated. Online school allows you to be involved and keep your child close by, in the safety and comfort of your home.

Join us in one of our Free Online Classes with your little one to get to know how we effectively provide a valuable learning experience for children even during lockdown.

Here is what parents had to say about the past 4 weeks Montessori education at MMI:

“We are very happy with MMI Montessori teachers and the standard of education it provides to my kids. My kids are at nursery 1 & 2, after the country’s lockdown they have adapted a very innovative teaching method which is not only interesting but also fun for the kids to learn. As a parent, home schooling is made easier as we have fun making videos of kids doing their day to day homework activities. I can’t wait to see how the online classes would be, I’m sure it’s going to be terrific!

“As a parent we realize the importance of providing timely education for ours kids. I highly appreciate the involvement and dedication of the teachers and staff at MMI in coordinating weekly activities with parents and kids even during this difficult time of the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, the teachers are reachable around the clock. Further, we happily welcome the e-learning platform to keep our kids interactive even more. I’m proud to say, our kids’ study at MMI. STAY HOME & STAY SAFE.

“Being stuck at home these days is not only boring but really frustrating for both kids and adults. As both myself and my husband have to work from home, we try our best to keep our son occupied. We are so happy that MMI has introduced really fun and easy activities to keep them busy. My son really enjoyed working with simple things like egg shells, leaves, grains etc. which we too can easily find at home. Thank you MMI :)
