Business as usual, but with best practices to the fore

- Pix and story Sameera Werasekara

With Sri Lanka opening up for work again, people around the country are being cautious and practising social distancing in their interactions with others.

Several companies have started reopening after nearly two months of continuous lockdown. Business owners have made the decision to reopen and established safety practices at the workplace.

It’s evident that people are following the precautionary guidance prescribed by health officials to avoid getting infected by the virus.

Health officials stress the importance of maintaining social distancing, as it is critical to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Accordingly, the government has facilitated a safe transportation service by disinfecting railway stations and bus stands and other public services as recommended by the WHO.

People have been advised to wear face masks, maintain social distancing, wash hands frequently, avoid spitting, pay attention to regular disinfection of surfaces and objects used such as door handles and railings etc with a suitable disinfectant several times a day.

It is every individual's responsibility to follow health guidelines to help curb the spread of the virus. Even if one person neglects to follow the rules, the painstaking effort taken by the whole community would be wasted.
