“The curfew times have been very tough for all of us, but we decided to make these tough moments memorable by bringing Noise 2020 to the doorstep of our audience,” said Directress Finance of RACCE and the Chairperson of Noise 2020, Rotaracter Shenelle Abeysekara.

‘Noise 2020’ will be held on May 29 from 6 p.m onwards. “Although all the plans were made to make Unplugged and Finals the real deal for our participants and audience, owing to the pandemic we had to adapt to the first ever Virtual Noise,” she said.

NOISE 2020 will have solo and group performers in the categories of Solo Singing, Group singing and Beatboxing.

“Given the situation of our country we are left with no choice but to drop the band category at the finals due to the inconvenience faced by participants when performing online especially with instruments and the need for extreme sound balance,” added Shenelle.

The first stage of Noise 2020 - the auditions took place on February 21 at Sooriya Village with over 75 participants, the highest they have ever had over the years, Shenelle said.

The Noise Unplugged (2nd stage) was held on May 15 where the solo and group category semifinalists battled for their spot in the finals.

The judging panel of the two stages, consisted of Shenal Mahendra, Minura Halwathura, Lakshan Wijesooriya, Nishantha Warnakulasuriya, Julius Mitchell and Ryan Henderling.
