Important follow-up to successful controlling of COVID-19 is the need of the hour

- Dhanu Via email

Concurrent to the outstanding success of the control aspects of Corona, there remains to be visited the more significant and persistent aspects of immunity to the disease in all its ramifications both genetic and acquired that can be elicited from the case records of all patients and those in quarantine. This constitutes a critical and collateral study which the eminent and specialized medical authorities do not appear to have had the time and the space (cage in the bed-head tickets) to record.

In the case of a patient entering the ICU, a sample of blood is taken for serological viral testing, grouping and direct testing, Rhesus factor etc. and other data relevant to the virus of statistical significance. It is now the appropriate time to make a full-scale investigation into these aspects in complete detail to be able to discern the overall picture of incidence and the range of variability in immunity among the different groups based on an array of ethnic, serological and other more significant parameters of clinical and statistical significance.

I do hope that the Registrar, the clinical staff of the IDH,MRI, statisticians of the Ministry and other stakeholders take cognizance of this important follow-up activity to collaborate in marking a significant baseline of incidence for future generations to be more successful in the speedy management and control of viruses and their final extinction given that we have competent professional virological, genetic and microbiological laboratories and staff capable of producing reliable vaccines and easy availability of volunteers for controlled clinical testing etc.
