‘Kandakadu patient asymptomatic; no one in ICU at NIID’

-

The person from the Kandakadu centre who tested positive is asymptomatic and under his care, Consultant Physician Dr. Eranga Narangoda of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID) told the Sunday Times.

This is while the returnee cluster seems to be reducing and there are only 17 patients at the NIID with no one currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), he said, adding that the person from Jinthupitiya has been discharged. The first tests on him showed that he was mildly positive (may have been due to the shedding of the virus) but the subsequent tests were negative. A serological test which would check for antibodies is awaited.
