MCA Committee take on Cavaliers
The second match of the Merc a n t i l e C r i cke t Association’s ( MCA) 17th edition of the ‘ Tyrone de Silva’ Challenge Trophy cricket encounter between the MCA Committee and Lanka Cavaliers will take place today at the MCA grounds commencing 9.45 am.
The match inaugurated in 2004 during Tyrone de Silva’s tenure as MCA President has taken place annually without a break. The series tally stands eight wins in favour of MCA and seven wins for the Lanka Cavaliers.
A close battle is expected, as MCA led by the incumbent President Rohana Dissanayake come out all guns firing against Lanka Cavaliers led by Nalliah Devarajan who have not lost for the past three years.
The special awards on offer are for the best batsman, best bowler, best fielder and Man of the Match.
The match will be played under the strict health precautionary guidelines set by the Health Ministry, the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs & the ICC.
Tyrone de Silva, the donor of this magnificent trophy is expected to grace the occasion as the chief guest.
