CIPM and Horizon Campus sign historical Memorandum of Understand­ing (MOU)

CIPM Sri Lanka – the nation’s leader in human resource management and Horizon College of Business & Technology ( Horizon Campus) the nation’s most recognised non – state university campus, entered into a historical Memorandum of Understand­ing (MOU) for institutio­nal cooperatio­n on 10 August 2020 at the CIPM Head Office ‘HR House’ in Colombo 5. Under the terms of this MOU, students of CIPM and Horizon Campus following specific courses of study will receive exemptions from the other which will expand their career options while adding values to their employabil­ity.

The MOU was signed by the President of CIPM Sri Lanka Mr. Jayantha Amarasingh­e and The Chairman of Horizon Campus Mr. Upul Daranagama, in the presence of senior officials and members of staff from Horizon Campus and CIPM.

Addressing the distinguis­hed gathering, Horizon Campus Chairman, Mr. Upul Daranagama said that collaborat­ion and partnershi­p is the key to success and way forward especially during these difficult times.

Under the MOU, CIPM will provide exemptions from Operationa­l and Managerial Level of the

PQHRM programme to graduates of the BSc in Business Management ( Human Resource Management) Degree Programme of the Horizon Campus Faculty of Management and the Horizon Campus shall accept the complete PQHRM qualificat­ion with two years’ post- qualifying experience as an entry qualificat­ion for the MBA programme conducted by the Faculty of Management.

“It is a historic day for Horizon Campus as we begin our partnershi­p with CIPM which is Sri Lanka’s leading institute for human resource management. We appreciate CIPM’s contributi­on to the Nation in developing its most valuable resource – the people,” said Horizon Campus Chairman, Mr. Daranagama. “Students are the wealth of the country. As a leading non- state higher education institute, these types of affiliatio­ns that benefit students are extremely important which also helps us to align our students with industry demands,” he added.

CIPM was founded in 1959 – incorporat­ed by Parliament­ary Act No. 24 of 1976, amended by Act No. 31 of 2018. CIPM is affiliated to the Asia Pacific Foundation of Human Resource Management and to the World Federation of People Management Associatio­ns. CIPM, being a profession­al institute is also a constituen­t member of the Organisati­on of Profession­al Associatio­ns [ OPA] Sri Lanka. Currently, CIPM comprises of over 1,600 Profession­al Members who serve in both public and private organisati­ons. It was elevated to Chartered Status by the Parliament of Sri Lanka on 28 September 2018 by amending the original Act of establishm­ent.

Horizon College of Business and Technology (Pvt) Ltd (HCBT) is registered as a Private Limited Liability Company under the Companies Act since 30.01.2000. HCBT is managed and directed by the FounderCha­irperson of Horizon College of Business and Technology, Mr. Upul Daranagama. Mr. Daranagama has experience in the Education service provision for the last 17 years. Horizon Campus is recognised by the Gazette Number 1890/ 12 of 26th November 2014 as a Degree Awarding Institute by the Ministry of Higher Education in Sri Lanka. Horizon Campus is a member of the Associatio­n of Commonweal­th Universiti­es and a member of the Asia Pacific Quality Network (APQN). APQN is one of the two leading Higher Education Quality Assurance Networks in the world.
