Journalist Lynn Ockersz’s third poetry collection

-

Senior journalist, poet and literary critic Lynn Ockersz breaks new ground in his poetic endeavours with the publication of his third collection of poems titled, ‘ The April 21 st Consensus’.

Essentially, the poems in this latest collection reflect the poet’s perceptions and interpretations of the most conspicuous and salient local and international socio- political realities and are a testimony to his enduring concern for the powerless. Accordingly, the poems could be said to be imbued by an enduring humanism.

Besides the condition of the power less and vulnerable, ‘ The April 21st Consensus’ focuses on issues of profound concern for the socially- conscious, such as, national reconciliation and inter- religious peace, political disharmony, power abuse and bottlenecks in democratic development. Interspersed in the collection are poems of deep spirituality which reinforce the poet’s belief that the secular and spiritual realms could never be treated as disparate.

Characterised throughout by a concise, evocative and creative use of language, the collection chronicles crucial local and international developments of contemporary times that have shaped the world we live in. It is an aesthetically- pleasing publication of Darshana Marketing Enterprises (PVT) Ltd, Battaramulla ( darshanar@darshanapathum. com) and is currently available for sale at the numerous bookshops of Sarasavi Publishers. A wider distribution among other bookshops is being planned.
